I am not trying to coach the team. That is not my point at all. I am just airing my concern as I think a vast majority of other parents are feeling the same kind of pressure & concern. At least that is what they all are saying when we're at the games. It just seems like we're making all these different & unusual changes from week to week yet we are just declining & that is doing nothing be demotivating these kids.
went to state my junior year and we had people playing 4 or 5 different positions weekly, you work with what you got. i played offensive guard, half back, tight end............ goes on and on. actually i centered some too, defensive end, nose guard, MLB, OLB, CB. same went with michael fugate, jeremy price got moved around, donovan, will, we did fine like thatOriginally Posted by blueknightmom

Honestly i believe the coach knows a lot more football than the moms in the stands. Let them do their jobs as coaches and you all should do you job as fans and cheer them on.
Here's what you tell those people that are talking: Let's put our trust in the coaches and give them a chance, quit complaining and 2nd guessing everything they do. The kids are going to buy into whining parents way of thinking and "poof" there goes the team. If you want to get off the bottom of the cumberland district, put your trust in the coaches. If you don't want to improve the program, then keep planting that seed of doubt in the players minds and keep doing what coeburn has been doing for years, saying it is the coaches fault we are not winning.
Many parents just don't understand how switching positions & players every week is goign to get us anywhere. Another thing that doesn't make too much sense at all is when you are getting your asses handed to you & you know there is NO way you are going to come back from it then why not play your other players. That has been a HUGE gripe. These boys train the same, give just as much & are getting extremely low playtime if any at all. I have seen my boy play an entire game & be wore out & they not send relief in when the other 42 kids are standing on the line begging to go in. It doesn't seem very fair. Rotate them boys & let them all have a little game time. Not just the same ones game after game ESPECIALLY when you are getting stomped.
Again let the coaches do their jobs and you as fans do yours. At every game there are 50+ coaches in the stands... or so they think. Just chill out and enjoy the time your son sees on the field.
It's not uncommon at all for them to play on both sides of the ball, most teams do that around here all the time. Coeburn just isn't good, not really any size, speed or talent altogether...just an inferior team. I think they're probably better than last in the Cumberland, but hell I wouldn't even brag about being 1st in that district.
I have to disagree with that statement. The coaches may know football but they don't have the time invested into our kids that we do. And our kids are not as frank with the coaches & really tell them what the locker room talk is or how they really feel. There has been quite a bit of BS that our kids are really upset about.
Case in point: Our boys were told that if they did NOT attend football camp then they would not start ... period. Everyone went to football camp & came home & crashed for 3 days as they were pushed to the max & were wore out. They busted their hind ends in the heat, got the hell beat out of them & gave their all. The coaches had BEGGED one gentleman ALL summer long to play. He refused because his sole focus was on wrestling. Well wouldn't you know about 2 wks prior to our 1st game this kid finally showed up & wanted to play. That kid ended up with a varsity spot & gets more game time than a ton of kids who have toughed it out all summer long in the heat, in the rain, through camp. Now ... is that fair? Heck no! Does that show a lack of character on our coaches behalf? Um ... yeah! It does! So when you say trust the coaches & let them do their job, that is MUCH easier to do when they set boundaries & follow them too.
Obviously you are not wanting to listen to what some of us are saying. I feel sorry for the coach at Coeburn, sounds like he doesn't stand a chance.
